Welcome to the PAMIS team Heather!

Heather is joining PAMIS to work on a Multi- sensory storytelling project in Dumfries and surrounding area.

“I’m Heather Molloy and I am so pleased to introduce myself to you all and to be a member of the PAMIS family.

I’m originally from Manchester (though I’m a Liverpool football fan) and moved to Dumfries and Galloway three years ago after spending a number of years leading a learning support department in an international school in Germany for four years. I’d been coming on holidays to Scotland since I was 4, and as a Heather name, it felt right to be here.

When I moved to Scotland, I also moved from my career in teaching to follow my dreams of working in the creative and performing arts alongside people with learning disabilities and their families. I have always been inspired by people with learning disabilities, and their families, and am passionate about learning as much as I can from them.

I love to write stories and was extremely lucky to have my first children’s book published last year. A collection of stories and poems that aim to teach children about the importance of kindness and acceptance of difference. It was a few months before the book was released that I first met Maureen, Jenny, and Pat from PAMIS and began my multi-sensory storytelling journey. Having learnt a bit about sensory storytelling previously I was so keen to work with PAMIS, to learn from them, and to share their knowledge with people in Dumfries and Galloway. I can’t believe how quickly time has passed and am really looking forward to seeing how our work continues to develop and benefit families in our corner of Scotland.

A little more information about me is that I love to walk and enjoy exploring all of the different local landscapes but my favourite of all are the forests. I love music and have very eclectic tastes but I will dance to pretty much anything! I am also a VERY big fan of Harry Potter and all things fantasy – you could call me a bit of a nerd.”
