Changing Places Toilets – Building Standards Consultation

PAMIS are delighted that the Scottish Government are leading the UK in consulting about changes in Scottish building standards to ensure that more Changing Places toilets are available in public buildings and spaces.

A public consultation launched on Monday 18th February and  is now underway. We urge you to have your say on these important proposals by taking part. You can visit the consultation hub at the following website:

PAMIS believe that by revising the Scottish building standards system and introducing a requirement for Changing Places toilets in public buildings, thousands of people across Scotland will be able to take part in everyday activities that so many of us take for granted.  At present, families are severely restricted by a lack of basic toilet facilities and are excluded from their communities and from travelling. This is a situation that cannot continue and PAMIS are passionate about changing this. The proposals will require Changing Places toilets in defined types of larger new buildings and will lead to an increase in the provision of these facilities across the country. Whilst the building standards system is intended to ensure that new buildings meet reasonable standards, we believe this is a crucial step in creating a fairer, more inclusive society and we strongly encourage people to take part and give their views.

The consultation is open until the 13th May 2019.
