Laura Rutherford

Changing Places Campaign Coordinator

What inspired you to work with PAMIS?

PAMIS is a brilliant charity, small but fierce! It’s dedication to the Changing Places toilet campaign and all that is has done to raise awareness and increase provision in Scotland is nothing short of amazing.

What is your role?

I am Changing Places Campaign Coordinator and deal with all things toilet related! From providing technical advice and reviewing plans to keeping the Changing Places Facebook page up-to-date.

What are your areas of expertise?

I am a parent carer to my son Brody, and I understand the barriers that the disabled community and carers face and how frustrating it is. I want to be involved in driving forward real change and improving access and inclusion in Scotland.

What does working at PAMIS mean to you?

I love my job, the difference that we make and our toilet team. I feel lucky to work for a charity that supports so many families.

Why do you think it’s important for people to know about PAMIS and the services they provide?

PAMIS is the reason that the Changing Places toilet campaign started. We do so much work, often behind the scenes, to ensure that venues install these vital facilities. PAMIS also provides support to so many families, from PAMIS passports and advocacy to PAMIS breaks and creative arts.

What is your motto, or favourite quote?

Normality is a paved road: it’s comfortable to walk, but no flowers grow on it. -Vincent Van Gogh
