I have been working at PAMIS now for over 13 years. I first started as a librarian, but over the years my role has developed and presently I spend a lot of my time campaigning for fully accessible toilets, Changing Places toilets.
I feel that I can safely say that I am the Scottish expert on all things concerning Changing Places toilets and I know the location of every single one! I am passionate about this cause as I have experienced first-hand the impact it has on people with complex needs and their families when they cannot access their community because of the lack of suitable toilets. It is something that everyone else in society takes for granted. People become prisoners in their own homes.
The rest of my time at PAMIS is spent answering enquiries, writing newsletters, keeping the website up-to-date, lending out and maintaining the multi-sensory stories, educating students, and responding to consultations. No day is ever the same, which is the beauty of working at PAMIS.
Please get in touch with me if you need any information on Changing Places toilets or anything else concerning people with profound and multiple learning disabilities. If I don’t know I will point you to the person that does.
