With Deep Sadness, We Announce the Loss of Kate Mure

It is with great sadness that we share the news of the death of Kate Mure, one of the first members of staff at PAMIS who worked alongside Loretto Lambe to set up the charity. She was for over 28  years our finance and adminstrative director retiring in October 2021. Kate ensured the charity was grounded with appropriate governance, financial scrutiny but also enabled aspirational projects to become a reality. Kate was dearly loved and respected, professional but with a personality that shone, always on hand with expert advice or support or humour when required! All who worked with Kate were touched by her personality, her warmth and her willingness to give anything a go. In the early days Kate was on the road with the PAMIS team running the family carer workshops on a variety of topics trailing from Inverness to Glasgow and all in between. Her willingness to roll her sleeves up never left and even after retirement she would pop in to provide historical insights, support or advice.

Although working in the field of people with disability was completely new to her when she started her fabulous interpersonal and communication skills meant she very quickly became attuned to the area. She was held in high esteem by all – families, government officials, international and national researchers but most of all by every single member of the PAMIS team.

We were so lucky to have had Kate in our lives as a colleague and a friend and even after her retirement. Sadly, this wasn’t for long enough and our thoughts are with her family at this time. However, her legacy lives on, Kate will remain in our memory and our hearts and so will always be by our side.

The funeral service will be held in Dundee Crematorium at 10.30 on Tuesday 13th January. Funeral notice
