At PAMIS, we believe your voice is the most powerful tool in raising awareness of profound learning and multiple disabilities and the challenges you face. The media want to hear directly from families like yours, but we understand that speaking on camera can feel nerve-wracking.
To support you, we’re offering a FREE Media Confidence Session to help families feel comfortable and prepared to share their experiences.

We are delighted to announce that Heather Suttie, a distinguished publicist, broadcaster, and producer, will be leading our upcoming media training session. With a rich career spanning television, radio, and print media, Heather brings a wealth of experience and insight to our programme.
Professional Background:
Broadcasting: Heather has presented and produced programs for prominent networks including BBC1, SKY, Channel 4, MTV, and STV. Notably, she hosted the final series of BBC’s Saturday morning show “Live & Kicking” and has been a familiar voice on radio stations such as Xfm, Beat 106, and Capital FM Network Scotland.
Journalism: As a versatile journalist, Heather has contributed features on music, travel, fashion, and environmental issues to various national publications. Her commitment to environmental advocacy is evident through her campaigns like “Say No To Plastic,” which have influenced policy changes in Scotland.
Public Relations: Currently, Heather leads Violet, a boutique agency dedicated to supporting purpose-driven brands, projects, and individuals. Her agency specialises in creative media and PR strategies, amplifying stories that matter.
Heather’s extensive experience and passion for storytelling make her an invaluable resource for our media training session. We are confident that participants will gain profound insights and practical skills to effectively share their narratives with the media.
We are sure you will have lots of questions about this and might be hesitant to proceed. For this reason we have set up a couple of online information sessions where you can find out more with absolutely no commitment to proceed. We have arranged to host one in the evening and one during the day in the hope that one of these times suits your availability. Heather will be joining both of the sessions.

The actual media training is likely to take place in May -date to be arranged- and will last 2-3 hours with breathing exercises, mock interviews, tips and tricks to becoming a voice for the pmld community. It will be fun and informative for all involved. PAMIS staff will be attending so that they can learn how to support you best when faced with a press enquiry. We will host it in the Dundee head office unless all applicants come from another area. Travel expenses will be covered and lunch provided.
Attendance at this training does not mean you are obligated to answer future call outs for a family to speak to the media but it will hopefully empower you consider getting involved
